Thanks, Michael. Your example of posting images of where you live is what inspired me to do this. It is your fault.

Our local hospital, Golden Valley Memorial, is completing a multi-million dollar addition for this area. Clinton is about half way between Kansas City, and Springfield, Missouri, where the nearest large hospitals are situated. It takes about 90 minutes to get to them from Clinton. Some years ago, this Air Ambulance service was started. It has saved many lives, do to the fact that some specialized treatments are/were not available here. The helicopters often go to the scene of vehicle accidents, and land on the highway to transport the injured. They have went to and landed in some unusual places, all to save lives. We are glad they have this service here.

Truman Lake borders Clinton on the South, here and there, and the main body of water is less than a mile. A pit created by "borrowing dirt" for the construction of the bridge over Truman sits right beside the Lake. Since the lake level fluctuates as much as 40 feet or more, when the Lake recedes, fish remain in the "Borrow Pit", and is a popular spot for fishing. A concrete fishing deck with handrail has been constructed to make it even better for fishing.

These two boys were fishing in that Borrow Pit, as I was driving around for Photo Opportunities, and were good enough to let me snap a photo. The fish is a Large-mouth Bass. The boys were real proud of their catch!

Clinton has a "Community Garden". Land is donated by local car dealer. Non-profit group organizes it. Each plot rents for 25.00, including water. It is a well-run, well-used project for Clinton Citizens.

When an over-abundance of vegetables occurs, the local Farmer's Market's reap the rewards. Also with any donated plants that can't find a home in any of the plots.

He has plans for more plots, and more improvements. This guy never gives up...he made my day!

Thanks for the link, Mike. Lots of info and images...

The Community Garden Manager, Wes, told me they had just taken signs down, to get new frames made for them that said, "If you didn't plant it, don't pick it". It seems there are issues like this with a lot of things now-a-days.

In our town, "Garage Sales", or some call them "Yard Sales" are held during Spring, Summer and Fall. This is a "Sale" that people have at their homes, sometimes from the Garage and spilling onto the driveway, and sometimes just laid in front or side of the house in the yard. Generally, all items have a price on them. No one expects to pay the price on the item, and haggling is expected.

I have never seen an actual "Garage" or "Yard" for sale at any of these I have attended. ;)

Here are some images from one such sale today. First shot is the house the sale took place, and then shots of some of the items for sale.

    (Sorry, no on-line orders...)

Never heard of that. Do you just sell stuff out of the "trunk" of the car? Where do you park your car?

So a Garage Sell shows a lot of the people privatcy and character. What do they like, are they hordes, etc.

I like such events. I wish here would be such an event.

Here in Thailand they donate their "Old unused" stuff to Schools, orphan Homes, Temples...
Sometimes buyers go around with his Pick-up's and ask for old unused thing. They pay very little money for it. People are happy to get rid of those things. The buyers are happy cos they run a second hand shop as well as a spare part shop.

Garage Sale items do tell a lot about the people having the sale. It still seems a little odd for me to go to a home and look at what the owner is willing to get rid of, and for how much. Although, it is interesting. My wife refuses to go to Garage Sales. Once in a while I will find something that I can use, although not very often. I suppose it is a strange form of entertainment. lol

Hoarder Sales might be a better name for these sales! LOL

We have what is called "The Samaritan Center and Thrift Shop", here in Clinton, where people donate all kinds of items, that are sold at very low prices. The Center also distributes food for low-income families, and more. I know some people take what doesn't sell at their Garage Sale to the Samaritan Center.

People in Thailand are to be commended for donating their old unused items to those that need it.

We, too, have people that pick up items from anyone that wants to get rid of it, or sell it at a low price, and then go and resell it for a profit.

At the Garage Sales here, the owners of Antique Stores and Flea Market type business are always the first to go to the Garage Sales so they do not miss out on a money making item. They even show up before the sale starts, and buy the items before anyone else can, if the owner will let them. That has become so common that many will post a sign "No Early Sales", so that all will have a fair chance to buy the goodies.

My wife says we have enough Junk, why go buy someone else's? LOL

Here is an image of The Samaritan Center:
